July is quickly upon us and before we know it the first day of school will be upon us. To help raise awareness and encourage families to reach out for support from the foundation if their child might benefit from academic interventions or additional therapeutic support, Turtle Wing will be holding their 3rd Annual Back-to-School Cut-A-Thon. Between the dates of July 15 and August 15, 2021, participating salons and barber shops will be donating $1/cut to Turtle Wing. Additionally, they will be sharing information on Turtle Wing Foundation and collecting community donations to support Turtle Wing’s back-to-school efforts. It is time to schedule those back-to-school cuts and prepare for an amazing 21/22 academic year.
If your child needs a quick boost to prepare them for next school year, contact the Turtle Wing office for local service providers offering academic interventions. Additionally, a full list of the Turtle Wing Provider Network is on the Turtle Wing website under resources (www.turtlewingfoundation.org). Turtle Wing has been providing Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families from Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs since 2012. Their mission is “helping children with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential.” Last year almost 300 children received direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work.
