Teachers and Paras Encouraged to Gain Skills to Create an Inclusion Lifeline

In an inclusion classroom, general education teachers and special education teachers work together to meet the needs of students. This type of classroom gives special education students the support they need and allows them to stay in the least restrictive environment. All students can benefit from the additional resources and supportive techniques used in an inclusion classroom. Turtle Wing Foundation is offering a very special workshop for all teachers, general education and special education, and the paras who support them in the classroom with the goal of creating an inclusion lifeline. This training will be held on Wednesday, July 29 from 9 AM to 3 PM at Blinn/Schulenburg Room #120 (100 Ranger Dr.). Presenters are Loueva Hatfield and Julia Hollek of Hatch Educational Consultants. Through discussion and practice, the following objectives will be covered:  inclusion goals; identification of types of student learning/behavior challenges; outline to match the appropriate instructional strategy, accommodation and/or modification to identified student differences; and implementation roles within the inclusion setting. Turtle Wing hopes to have participation of staff from every school district in their service area, which includes Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties.
