Celebrate Autism Acceptance Month with Turtle Wing Foundation

This April, the Autism Society of America celebrates differences as it works to build an inclusive society where individuals with autism live fully through connection and acceptance. Together, with other national autism organizations, they are leading the legislative effort for lawmakers to federally and globally designate April as Autism Acceptance Month, a shift from the commonly used phrase “Autism Awareness Month.” While we will always work to educate others about autism, words matter -- the need for acceptance is greater than ever, as we strive for autistic individuals to live fully in all areas of life. Each April, we celebrate to spread awareness, promote acceptance, and ignite change.

Turtle Wing celebrates Autism Acceptance month in a variety of ways, and one is by partnering with the schools in our service areas baseball & softball teams to host Turtle Wing/Autism Acceptance Games! Over 15 games are scheduled, and children enrolled in Special Education at the schools will even get to throw out the first pitches! Come out to watch your local high school baseball and softball teams and show your support! The scheduled games are posted on our website www.turtlewingfoundation.org & Facebook page @turtlewingfoundation and if you have any questions, feel free to give us a call!

Keep a lookout for other happenings with Turtle Wing Foundation. Turtle Wing Day will be on April 7th! On this day, the community is encouraged to wear their Turtle Wing gear (or green) and celebrate those they know and love who are autistic and to encourage everyone to be more inclusive. Also during the month of April is #MakeOurMatch which is a $5,000 challenge sponsored by Chuck Brown Ford of Schulenburg, and on the 10th is our Homerun Derby in Hallettsville partnered with Hallettsville Little League! Autism Acceptance concludes with the 11th Annual Jack Hooper Day at the Ballpark on May 7th, 2022! Come out and join in all the fun activities in celebration of Autism Acceptance Month and the efforts of Turtle Wing Foundation. More information coming soon!
