Turtle Wing Foundation Hires Executive Director

Following ten years of growth and success helping individuals and families “grow wings”, Turtle Wing Foundation is excited to announce the hiring of its first Executive Director. On Monday, September 13, Destiny Psencik officially joined the Turtle Wing staff. Psencik has always had a passion for serving communities and started her involvement in non-profit work while still in college.

Psencik is a 2020 graduate of Texas Lutheran University with a degree in Marketing with a focus in Social Entrepreneurship. She has worked with multiple non-profit organizations including an internship with Ronald McDonald House charities of Central Texas. Psencik is also on the Board of Directors for Shelter Pet Safety Net (a non-profit that provides support for the animals of Bastrop County), a coach for the Club 979 Volleyball organization, and is a certified CASA member.

She joins current staff Susie Shank, Phyllis Fritsch and Dianna Kurtz.

“We have grown from a $40,000 budget to a budget of $380,000 over the last ten years and are excited to welcome Destiny to the Turtle Wing Team. She brings an energy and determination that, with the combined efforts of our current support staff, will take the foundation to the next level,” DeeAnn Hooper, Turtle Wing Founder. “We have been blessed with so many wonderful donors, supporters, providers and volunteers over the years and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Turtle Wing Foundation.”

Turtle Wing Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization which helps individuals with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs and provided Early Intervention and Supplemental Services to almost 300 individuals last year with thousands more being impacted by Community Education & Advocacy programming. The mission of Turtle Wing Foundation is helping individuals with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential by providing access to a shared network of emotional, educational, and therapeutic resources. Their service area includes Fayette, Lavaca, Colorado and surrounding counties.
