Turtle Wing Foundation Celebrates #GivingTuesday and Invites Community to Participate

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.

This #GivingTuesday, Turtle Wing Foundation will celebrate giving by partnering with McCourt and Sons Equipment, Inc. to raise funds and continue “helping children with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential”. McCourt and Sons Equipment, Inc. have donated $5,000 to match #GivingTuesday donations to Turtle Wing Foundation. Additionally, for new donors, another $5,000 challenge grant has been offered by Anderson Foundation based in Austin. The community is being asked to answer the challenge. If you donate early your donating might actually be tripled! Facebook and Paypal are offering a 7 million dollar match worldwide beginning at 7 AM central time and processing fees are waived for on-line donations on #GivingTuesday only. Turtle Wing has branded their campaign #GivingKidsWingsDay2018, in alignment with their tagline of helping children grow wings and fly!

Turtle Wing has been providing Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families from Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs since 2012. Since the first year of serving families, Turtle Wing programming expenses have grown from $40,000 to $270,000. This is only possible due to the incredible support of community donors, businesses and foundations who have stepped up and invested in Turtle Wing’s mission. Annually over 300 children are receiving direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work. Those who are interested in joining Turtle Wing’s #GivingKidsWingsDay2018 initiative can visit their Facebook page @turtlewingfoundation on November 27 or stop by the Turtle Wing office at 723 Upton Avenue in Schulenburg. Turtle Wing will hold a special open house from 8 AM – 5 PM on #GivingTuesday accept walk-in donations, welcome new families and also hold a special merchandise sale.

#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partnersto transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.
