Turtle Wing Announces #GivingKidsWingsDay2020

Celebrated on the Tuesday following U.S. Thanksgiving, and fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, #GivingTuesday inspires millions of people across the globe to show up and give back to causes and issues that matter to them. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day, and touches every person on the planet. #GivingTuesday takes place on December 1, 2020 this year.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give.

Turtle Wing Foundation has branded their #GivingTuesday campaign this year #GivingKidsWingsDay2020. Anyone wishing to support this effort can donate directly on Facebook, potentially tripling their donation. This is due to a local $10,000 match generously provided by J Bar B Foods, McCourt Equipment, and a private donor. Facebook will once again waive processing fees on this day and are donating a total of up to $7 million in matching funds for donations made through Facebook across the world. Donations made early in the morning are more likely to receive the second match. The Facebook match begins at 7 AM CST and will continue until distributed. A second option is for supporters to set up their own fundraiser through their personal Facebook page. Anyone interested in doing so can download a guide from https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers/ and create a Facebook fundraiser that in turn they can share with their friends on #GivingTuesday. Creating a fundraiser is easy and Turtle Wing welcomes fundraiser support at any goal amount.

Turtle Wing has been providing Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families from Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs since 2012. Last year 379 children received direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work. Those who are interested in joining Turtle Wing’s #GivingKidsWingsDay2020 initiative can visit their Facebook page @turtlewingfoundation on December 1 or stop by the Turtle Wing office at 723 Upton Avenue in Schulenburg. Turtle Wing will hold a special open house from 8 AM – 5 PM on #GivingTuesday to accept walk-in donations, welcome new families and also hold a special merchandise sale.
