Saturday, March 25th, at Holman Valley Steakhouse was an unforgettable day and night for Turtle Wing Foundation & the community.
"When Wendee (owner of Holman Valley Steakhouse) approached us with the idea that herself, her staff, Curtis Grimes & his band wanted to host a Benefit Concert and donate proceeds to Turtle Wing, we did not expect the lengths they would go to in order to raise not only funds, but awareness of the work the foundation is doing" Executive Director Destiny Psencik said, "They went even further out of their way by doing an online auction & by including some of our Turtle Wing families, which truly made an impact on our families as well as the community."
During the day, Holman Valley served 12 Turtle Wing families lunch in the dancehall, and Curtis & his band worked with the individuals on his latest song "Fishin' in the Bay", in preparation for their performance on the stage with him that evening! The Turtle Wing members got to play different instruments & sing their hearts out!
The evening started off with a performance by Zach Novak, who sang and played on his accordion and keyboard!
Curtis & his band then took the stage, after leading the entire dancehall in prayer. When it was time, the Turtle Wing members took the stage and didn't hold back!
The evening was filled with laughter, love, and of course LOTS of singing & dancing!
In total, the Benefit Concert raised $25,506 for the Turtle Wing Foundation, which includes a generous match from doTerra Essential oils of $2,500!
"When we brought the dancehall back to life 6 years ago, it was our intention to preserve the history in Holman and create a space that would continue to make lasting memories. This event was more than expected for many, including myself. From the kids, to the donors and sponsors, and everyone that helped put this together, THANK YOU just doesn't seem to be enough! The memories will always be in my heart and all of those that were in attendance with us that night! What a spectacular day it was! Also a special thanks to Heather, Patti, & Tory - this would not have happened without their countless hours of work" says Wendee Galleymore, owner of Holman Valley Steakhouse.
