On September 24, the Big Easy Ranch in Columbus hosted the inaugural Turtle S’Wing Golf Tournament benefiting Turtle Wing Foundation. It was a perfect day, and those in attendance whether they golfed, sponsored the event, or enjoyed the auction and meal that followed all left looking forward to next year’s event. Valero Energy Foundation sponsored the golf portion of the day. The winning team was sponsored by State Farm agent Matt Gaby, with Chris Everett, Carrie McCree and Keith McCree rounding out his foursome. The Putting Contest was sponsored by Lone Star Bank. After a four-way tie, the winner was Joe Simpson of Fayetteville. Round Top Real Estate sponsored the longest drive competition. The golfers shot from an indoor bay open to the driving range where the distance was tracked using technology. The winner was Clayton Besetzny of Schulenburg with a 305 yard shot. The tournament committee is already making plans for the 2nd annual event next year. Turtle Wing Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization which helps children with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs.
