Back-to-School Haircut-A-Thon to Benefit Turtle Wing

It’s hard to believe the summer is almost complete! Back-to-school supplies are out at the market and schools are scheduling events to welcome students back. Traditionally, many of our children get that fresh haircut and perhaps a new outfit for the first day of school. This year families can help raise money to help support local programming through Turtle Wing Foundation simply by getting their haircuts at the foundation’s first Back-to-School Haircut-A-Thon. What is this? Well, bring yourself and/or your children to participating salons on Sunday, August 11 between 1 PM and 5 PM for a haircut. Cuts for children are a minimum donation of $15 and for adults $20. The stylists have donated their time, space and talent so that 100% of the proceeds will help Turtle Wing provide Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families from Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs. Participating salons include:  The Hair Venture in La Grange, The Hair Affair in Flatonia, and Salon V (barber shop) and The Hair Studio in Schulenburg. Appointments are not necessary. Turtle Wing representatives will be present with information on the foundation’s work and services and Turtle Wing merchandise will be available for sale. There will be snacks for those who come to get their hair cut as well as a raffle at each location that anyone who gets a haircut will be entered into. Please support this first effort and scratch the haircut off of your to-do list.   Turtle Wing has been providing support to families with children with learning challenges since 2012. Annually, over 300 children are receiving direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work.
