Be on the Look-Out for #TurtleWingRocks

Many non-profits in the area just completed their #GivingTuesday campaigns, which is a worldwide day of giving. This year, for the first time, a piece of that campaign incorporated #GivingTuesdayKids. This movement was led by a team of changemakers who are encouraging young people to take action around the causes they care about most. They rallied kids all over the world to create an epic moment of generosity on December 3, 2019 for #GivingTuesday. Turtle Wing Foundation is continuing the momentum of this effort throughout December and throughout this season of giving. Branding the campaign, #KidsGivingWings, Turtle Wing invites youth from across its service area of Fayette, Lavaca, Colorado and surrounding counties to pick a project or cause close to their heart and start planning! This falls in alignment with Turtle Wing’s “Grow Wings” character education portion of their community education and advocacy programming. Grow Wings incorporates intentional actions to help develop kindness, inclusion, acceptance and service in our community, particularly in youth. Youth are asked to share how they give back on social media and include #KidsGivingWings. A second piece of this campaign is #TurtleWingRocks. There are specially painted rocks being placed in towns across the Turtle Wing service area. If you find a rock you are asked to take a selfie with the rock and share it to Facebook or your social media page. Tag the post with #TurtleWingRocks and #KidsGivingWings. On the post share an act of kindness you plan on doing that day. Anyone can participate as we are all kids at heart! Then, leave the rocks where someone else can find it. Share the joy and encourage others to pay it forward by being kind to others, including others, accepting others and serving others. After December is concluded, those who have posted under the hashtag #KidsGivingWings will be put in a drawing for some free Turtle Wing merchandise. Everyone is encouraged to complete an act of kindness daily this month and in turn make kindness a habit! The intention is to help kindness become the norm for our rural communities and the world we live in. Turtle Wing Foundation’s mission is helping children with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential. Turtle Wing will utilize these funds to help support programming such as Early Intervention, Supplemental Services and Community Education & Advocacy. Turtle Wing supports individuals and families primarily from Colorado, Fayette, and Lavaca counties with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs.
