Anyone Can Take A Chance on the Turtle S’Wing & Shoot Ball Drop

The Turtle Wing Foundation is busily preparing for their 2nd Annual Turtle S’Wing and Shoot at Big Easy Ranch in Columbus on September 20, 2021. The Turtle Wing board just recently approved their largest budget ever, $379,500! This means that the foundation will be able to do even more to “help individuals with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential.” A big step being taken this year is adding an Executive Director. This also means that fundraising, donations and the generosity of grantors will be even more critical. Though not everyone golfs or shoots or is able to participate in the unique experience provided at the Turtle S’Wing & Shoot by Big Easy Ranch, everyone can participate in the Ball Drop. A maximum of 200 balls will be pre-sold for $20/ball or 6/$100. At 5:45 PM, following the tournaments and the cocktail hour, a helicopter will take all 200 numbered balls up. Those who “purchase” a ball will be randomly assigned a number. Once dropped, the ball that is closest to the bulls-eye will be the winner and the “owner” of that ball will receive a $1000 Visa Gift Card thanks to the generosity of Leyco Real Estate in Columbus. According to managing director, Susie Shank, “We are so grateful for the generosity of our community over these last ten years! There are still needs not being met, and we have some new programming concepts that will make a difference to the families we serve. We hope that this might be a fun way for our supporters to be able to participate in this event.” The Ball Drop will be broadcast on Facebook Live. To purchase balls, visit our Ball Drop Page or stop by the Turtle Wing office at 1203 S. Summit Avenue, suite 201 in Schulenburg. Anyone interested in participating in other facets of the day or donating to this effort should contact event chairs Becca Edmiston (979)732-1710 or Kevin Chance (512)743-1580. Turtle Wing Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization which helps children with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs. Their service area includes Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties. Turtle Wing provided Early Intervention and Supplemental Services directly to 240 children last year with thousands more being impacted by Community Education & Advocacy programming.
